Charleston Lessons at Rising Sun Arts Centre, Reading

Shirley and Jean will be teaching a series of Charleston lessons at the Rising Sun Arts Centre, 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST on the following dates and times:-

Monday 20 April 7.00 pm – 8.00 pm
Monday 27 April 7.00 pm – 8.00 pm
Monday 11 May 7.00 pm – 8.00 pm

These are in preparation for a workshop and tea dance on Sunday 17 May, 3.00 pm – 6.00 pm

Sunday 17th May, 1920’s Tea Dance,
Charleston Dance Class: 2pm - 3pm £5.00,
Tea Dance: 3pm - 6pm £5.00
The class and tea dance combined: £7.50

Live Music from ‘Lawrie Wright and The Silver Heels. Piano/bass/drum trio who will be playing 20’s 30’s and 40’s music. The Rising Sun is transformed into a ‘20s style art deco dance hall complete with music from the period. Dress in your ‘20s vintage gear and come to the Charleston dance workshop and learn a few steps so you can shake a leg later on. A delightful way to spend an afternoon. Tea and cakes ~ as much as you like ~ live music thrown in. It’s the cat’s meow.

Thursday 26 February: Dancing to Ding Dong Daddios, Pitcher & Piano, Friar Street, Reading

A group of us will be going along to dance to the Ding Dong Daddios - jump jive/swing band that you can dance lindy and balboa to - at the Pitcher and Piano Pub on the corner of Station Road and Friar Street, Reading from about 9.00 pm on Thursday 26 February 2009

Bookings open on Monday 16 Feburary for our next full weekend of balboa workshops and dances: BALBOA BANDWAGON WITH DAN GUEST AND SYLVIA SYKES , 4 & 5 April 2009

Package includes 10 hours of workshops (5 each day), Saturday evening dance, Sunday Tea Dance, lunches, snacks and drinks on both Saturday and Sunday. Price £110/head.

We would encourage you to book with a partner - as lead and follow if possible, but we will have room for some extra followers if need be.

This is just to remind you that our next Balboa Bonanza will be on Sunday 22 February but at a DIFFERENT VENUE as the Canoe Club is booked – by Canoeists of all people!

Our new venue, just for this month is – Shiplake Memorial Hall, Memorial Avenue, Shiplake Cross, Henley on Thames, RG9 4DN
